About Me

Sahara Afrikaners is one of the oldest Afrikaner Cattle herds in Southern Africa. In the early 1960’ Sahara became one of the first Afrikaner cattle studs to start with performance testing and later in the 1980’s formed the Afrikaner Production Group together with two other stud breeders. Sahara was also the first stud in Southern Africa to hold a production auction where breeding values were available for all cattle on auction. The result was one of the most successful Afrikaner auctions of its time!

Our scientific breeding program aims to develop cattle which:

•Increases your bottom line profit

•Leaves no room for compromise in terms of hardiness and adaptability for African conditions

•Has outstanding muscling traits

•Is fertile

•Allows for easy calving

•Has growth

•Has a tame temperament

•Can be managed with minimum input cost

Today Sahara is reaping the benefits of many years of dedicated performance breeding, commitment and our love for the cattle; nature and God. Our achievements range from winning farmers weekly trophies to producing bull and cow show champions in the very early days. Our greatest achievement is the veld adapted genetic material we produce which is used in many large well-known herds across Southern Africa.

Our regular returning clients are a testimony to our superior Sahara Afrikaner genetics which contribute to enhance their herd’s competitiveness and sustainability.
